When You Realize God Was Preparing You All Along

The moment I stopped searching for purpose and started stewarding what God had already placed in my hands.

A few weeks ago, I had one of those moments where everything seemed to click. It wasn't because something big happened or because I finally reached a goal I had been working toward. It happened because I stopped looking ahead for a moment and started looking back. As I reflected on the different seasons of my life, I realized they weren't disconnected chapters at all. They were all part of the same story, and God had been faithfully preparing me through each one.

For years, I prayed for clarity. I wanted to know exactly what God had planned for my life and what I was supposed to do next. I thought purpose was something I would eventually discover if I worked hard enough or waited long enough. Looking back now, I see that God was never withholding my purpose from me. He was shaping me into the person who would be ready to carry it.

When I think about my health journey, I don't just remember the workouts or the physical changes. I see perseverance. When I think about being a military spouse through deployments and constant change, I don't just remember the waiting. I see trust. Motherhood taught me more than how to care for my daughters. It changed my heart, my priorities, and the way I define success. Even the opportunities I've had through education, business, and writing weren't separate paths competing for my attention. They were all preparing me to serve people in different ways.

That realization has changed the questions I ask. Instead of constantly wondering, "What's next?" or "What's my purpose?" I find myself asking, "How can I faithfully steward what God has already placed in my hands?" There is so much peace in that question because it shifts my focus from striving to faithfulness. Stewardship isn't about having every answer. It's about trusting God with what He's given you today and believing He will continue to guide your next steps.

If you're in a season where you're wondering what God is doing, I hope you'll take a second to look back. The things that feel mundane today may be the very things He is using to prepare you. One day you may realize, that none of it was random. It was there all along.
